Graham Salvage, principal bassoonist of the Hallé Orchestra studied at the Royal Academy of Music (1972-75) with Gwydion Brooke and later with Klaus Thunemann in Germany whilst holding positions in two opera house orchestras from 1975-81. He has appeared as guest principal bassoonist with many orchestras including the London Symphony, Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Scottish, Welsh National Opera and the English National Opera.
Graham has given recitals and masterclasses as far afield as Tokyo, Bermuda, Hong Kong and Turkey. He has premiered several works and released a number of recordings. He teaches at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester University and Chetham’s School of Music and is an adjudicator and examiner for various institutions including the Associated Board.
