There are currently 15 composition students, who follow an exciting and diverse programme. Students are encouraged to develop a personal style whilst studying a wide range of composition techniques. Individual tuition is accompanied by seminars and workshops, and there are many opportunities to perform student works through the regular composer and lunchtime concerts.
Composition students learn to use sophisticated music technology facilities both for composing and for the presentation of scores. Students are also regular winners in national competitions and have recently been awarded top prizes at the BBC Proms/Guardian Young Composers' Competition and the EPTA Young Composers' Competition.
