January 2010 - Week 12

General Progress and work to the wall

The majority of the bulk excavation has now been undertaken, with one final dig remaining within the concert hall location.

Once this has been completed the levels on the site should be suitable for the main contractor to start the ground works i.e. the foundations.

(Note: we should be in a position to name the successful main contractor in February).

The existing Lancashire Yorkshire Railway Wall has now received all 4 rows of ground anchors meaning it should now be appropriately supported and ready to act as a retaining structure for when the new building's external walls are erected.

We are now approaching the final 3 weeks, where instigating the Stage 5 dig and further below -ground investigations.

All the excavated material is being removed from site and stored at a local transfer station, this can then be brought back to site and reused by the main contractor as hardcore or fill material.
