Chetham's Raises Funds for Medieval Monastery

Gorton MonasteryChetham's School of Music is due to give a performance featuring a variety of ensembles at the beautiful Gorton Monastery on 28th February 2010.

The programme includes extracts from Stravinsky Firebird Suite, Tchaikovsky Fifth Symphony, and Sibelius Karelia Suite. 

The programme will also see performances by ensembles including Violetta Strings, Guitar Orchestra and Chetham's Sinfonia.
14 year old Norwegian cellist, Mirjam Kammler, will also be performing the first movement of Säent-Sains Cello Concerto No.1.

The concert is given in aid of the Monastery Trust. Gorton Monastery is a Grade II listed building, nicknamed "Manchester's Taj Mahal", and in the top 8% of all buildings in England.
