Legacies

Supporting Future generations of young musicians

Leaving a legacy to Chetham's can make a significant and long lasting difference, aiding the development of some of the finest young musicians from all over the world.

Chetham's takes young people with raw talent and enthusiasm, and equips them with the skills to become the leading musicians of the future.

Any gift you leave to Chetham's will be used to further the aims and purposes of this fantastic institution. You can either leave a general legacy, or give a gift for a specific purpose.

Examples of specific purposes include:

Bursaries Fund

Although all UK students are eligible to means-tested grants from the UK government, there is no support for those from overseas. The School has a small fund available to help exceptionally talented international students, but every year there are those who cannot take up an offered place due to lack of funding.

Leaving a gift to the Bursaries Fund will allow us to support more of the finest young musicians from around the world.

Capital Fund

Chetham's is embarking on the most exciting development since it became a specialist music school in 1969. The plans will take many years to be completed, and will include the creation of a brand new school building, and significant works to our existing buildings, which will result in the opening up of College House, the medieval heart of Chetham's dating back to 1421, which the School shares with Chetham's Library.

A gift to the Chetham's Capital Fund will help us fund these exciting changes, which will create a School for the future, and open up the past of one of Manchester’s oldest buildings.

Instruments Fund

Chetham’s has a stock of around 650 instruments, including 70 pianos, 4 harps and even a Samba Band!

Supporting the Instruments Fund will enable us to buy the very expensive pianos, violins and other instruments which our talented young musicians need if they are to reach their potential.
