February 2011 - Week 97
The excitement is gathering apace with the completion of the building fast approaching!
Externally the final pieces of scaffold have been struck to reveal the full envelope of the building. Over the last few weeks, final snagging and cleaning of the brickwork will take place and the two large concrete signs for "Chetham's School of Music" will be installed to Victoria Station Approach and Hunts Bank. The final sections of hoarding are also being removed, with the footpath around the building being reinstated and the external bronze doors soon to be brought to site for installation...
December 2011 - Week 86
With a week left until Christmas, construction works continue apace in order to achieve 'Practical Completion' towards the end of February. The work force has reached its peak with around 180 workers of various trades on site.
November 2011 - Week 82
If you have walked past site this morning you will have noticed something missing from the building site! Tower Crane 2 was erected in June 2010 and has played a pivotal role in the construction of the new build. After 16 months, the crane was removed during this last weekend. The removal of this crane marks the start of the final push to completion.
July 2011 - Week 67
Week 67: A lot has happened since we last wrote. Back in May we removed the first tower crane which has enabled us to infill the structural holes where the crane mast was located. We have completed filling these holes and the roof is now fully sealed allowing the dry finishes to commence within the building.
