Music Technology
The Music Technology Department is a fast growing area within the School. The Department has recently moved into purpose-built facilities. All recording studios are based on industry-standard Pro Tools HD systems. The main studio features a 32-fader Digidesign ICON D-Control console with a further mixdown suite housing a 24-fader Digidesign ICON D-Command console. In addition, there is a brand new MIDI suite equipped with 11 custom built PC workstations running Cubase SX3 and Sibelius 4 software. The AS and A-Level courses cover a full range of topics, including recording techniques, sequencing, sampling, synthesis, arranging and composition. Students study and work with a range of musical genres from classical through to jazz and popular music, and in addition develop skills in analysing and composing music for film and television.
